23/05/12 Football fans reminded to recycle during Euro 2012

HOUNSLOW Council has teamed up with Brentford FC to remind football fans to recycle the bottles and cans during the Euro 2012 tournament.
Fans who watch the matches at home can get their paper, plastic and glass picked up by Sita, the council's recycling contractor.
Old football kits, scarves, goalkeepers’ gloves and shin pads can also be collected, said the council.
Speaking at Griffin Park, home of the Bees, Councillor Colin Ellar, cabinet member for the environment, said: "The council will guarantee residents a variety of recycling choices for every England match this summer and let’s not waste this opportunity to do our bit. A vast city like London produces a vast amount of rubbish and it is proving increasingly costly to dispose of it."
